Karma Soundlay can be bonded or loose laid on the sub-floor, however it is important that the Soundlay is laid acoustic foam face down. When bonding to the floor, ensure that the sub-floor is clean, dry, grease free and that the flooring is secured prior to bonding; CMS Bond 100 Adhesive should be used. The Soundlay sheets should be pushed up to the skirting boards to prevent any flanking, however if the sheets are flush against the wall it’s recommended that a perimeter strip is applied prior to replacing the skirting boards.
Important! – Soundlay can be cut to any shape or size using a simple Stanley knife.
For use with Carpets, Wooden, Laminate or Vinyl Floors
SoundLay can be laid in conjunction with a carpet, but the barrier mats should be bonded to the subfloor using the CMS Bond 100. When installing the carpet ensure you use either carpet grippers or a suitable bonding agent. When using grippers, we recommend that you don’t nail the grippers to the barrier mat otherwise it may impede the SoundLay’s performance. Ensure that the chosen bonding agent is suitable for polyurethane materials, as shrinkage may occur.
Where a wooden or laminate floor finish is being used, it is recommended that a layer of 12mm T+G plywood or MDF is bonded to the SoundLay Soundproofing Underlayment first, using CMS Bond 100 Adhesive.
Where vinyl floor coverings are to be used, it is recommended that a layer of 12mm T+G plywood or MDF is bonded to the SoundLay first, using CMS Bond 100 Adhesive.
